{"id":4491,"date":"2012-07-09T09:46:59","date_gmt":"2012-07-09T14:46:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ohrstromblog.com\/spsarchives\/?p=4491"},"modified":"2013-01-10T17:48:21","modified_gmt":"2013-01-10T22:48:21","slug":"frederick-alexander-marquand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.ohrstromblog.com\/spsarchives\/archives\/4491","title":{"rendered":"Frederick Alexander Marquand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Frederick Alexander Marquand attended St. Paul&#8217;s School from 1867 to 1873 and is a member of the Form of 1872.<\/p>\n<p>According to Arthur Stanwood Pier&#8217;s <em>St. Paul&#8217;s School 1855-1934 (pg. 151),<\/em> in 1871 Marquand was a member of the Ariel crew team, rowing in the 4th position, and competed in the first annual crew race at St. Paul&#8217;s School.\u00a0 The Ariel team was made up entirely of Third Formers, and they finished only two seconds behind the winning Halcyons &#8211; Shattucks finished in third place due to one of the oarsmen having caught a crab. This first race began the tradition that is still held each Anniversary weekend at St. Paul\u2019s School.<\/p>\n<p>Pier also notes that he was treasurer of the Chapel Fund from 1882 until his death in 1886.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Frederick Alexander Marquand attended St. Paul&#8217;s School from 1867 to 1873 and is a member of the Form of 1872.
