New Year, New Blog!

NEW YEAR!  NEW BLOG!

We are very excited to reintroduce our Ohrstrom Library blog, which, like many things, took a brief hiatus during the pandemic. We missed it and are looking forward to once again sharing library events and news, reading recommendations, notes from the archives, and more!

And what better way to get started than to tell you about all the new things happening in the library!

First, we’d like to welcome three new library staff members: Courtney Seymour – Research and Outreach Librarian, Katherine LaFlamme – Instruction Librarian, and Lauren Rettig – Library Technician. The three bring a lot of experience and enthusiasm to our library team. Next time you’re in the building, please say hello!

Over the break we received many boxes of new books. Here’s a photo from our latest shipment- if you see anything you like, let one of us know or stop by to check them out!

This time of year, our Wellness area is a very popular place. If you’re looking for books on healthy eating, hiking, knitting, mindfulness, organization…this is the area for you.  If you can’t stop by the library to browse the collection, use this link to virtually browse items currently on our wellness shelves. You are welcome to put holds on items you’d like to check out and we will prepare a book bundle for you to pick up at your convenience. If you need inspiration on what to check out, take a peek at the books scrolling below.  There’s something for everyone!

In partnership with the SEC, the library will be hosting our first community book club meeting to discuss The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. If you’ve read the book and would like to join us for thoughtful discussion, we will be meeting on Wednesday 2/2/22, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. If you haven’t read it yet, there’s still time. The title is available on Overdrive in both ebook and audiobook formats. Check them out here. Lunch will be provided, so please RSVP by 1/26/22.

If you have any questions or book recommendations, please reach out to one of our librarians.  We are here to help and look forward to seeing you in the library sometime soon!
