Are you ready for the XXV Winter Olympic Games? Hosted by Italy, the Milano Cortina 2026 Games are sure to be an exciting showcase for talented winter athletes from around the world. We asked the Ohrstrom librarians about their favorite winter events:
Ms. Parsi is a fan of the bobsled racing, which may be influenced by her love of the movie Cool Runnings. She was happy to learn that the Jamaican bobsled team will once again be represented at these Olympics!
Mrs. Kittler loves ice dancing. She says, “Rooted in ballroom dance, ice dancing emphasizes musicality, connection, and precision. It’s Dancing with the Stars on Ice!”.
Ms. Yarborough likes any slope-style or big air events for skiers and snowboarders. She says,”I think these athletes are both impressive and unhinged”. She also wishes that acroski (ski ballet) had become more than a demonstration sport.
Ms. Egan likes the figure skating. Ms. Jache likes watching the biathlon, or cross-country skiing if she misses the biathlon race. Mr. Suosso is looking forward to the hockey, especially with NHL players returning to the Winter Olympics for the first time since 2014. Ms. Rettig is a fan of both hockey and luge. And Mrs. Brooks can’t choose between curling, alpine skiing, and skeleton.
