    Encounters Research

Explicating Mark, Matthew or Job? Consider using the digitized The New Interpreter’s Bible available from the library’s Ministry Matters collection. (Ministry Matters is a collection of digitized Christian religious texts to support of religious researchers and practitioners.) Use  The New Interpreter’s Bible to locate historical and social context for, and commentary on: Matthew Mark Job Statue Of St. Mark (detail Of The Hands), Torcello, Venice. Photography. Encyclopædia Britannica ImageQuest. Web. 21 Feb2014. http://quest.eb.com/images/153_2929747

    Dear Encounters,

Best of luck in your religious explication!   Here is your course research guide, now including a low-budget video of locating and using the reference room Biblical commentaries. (I think I need to buy a microphone). 🙂     Please be in touch with any research questions! Ms. Sanborn

Dear Encounters, It was great to meet with you this week! Thank you especially for your thoughtful scriptural citation questions.  With this in mind, the assignment research guide now includes citation examples for the explication choices and a citation example for the Ministry Matters religious text eCollection. Trial Run: Ministry Matters

The Library invites you to try out Ministry Matters, an eContent Collection of Christian religious texts intended for the religion researcher and practitioner.   While mostly purchased by Divinity Schools, Ministry Matters contains the full text of The New Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible, one of the most-often consulted texts during each section of the required Encounters course(s).   The trial runs for two weeks from today, so if you can, take a peek before leaving for break. I would love to know what you think!  Contact me at lsanborn at sps dot edu.
