    Summer Reading Challenge 2017

    Today marks the launch of Ohrstrom Library’s Summer Reading Challenge. Stop by the library this week to pick up your official Summer Reading Challenge bookmark for ideas and suggestions on how to select different and interesting books to read over the summer vacation. This reading challenge is for EVERYONE! Students, faculty, staff and families are all invited to participate. Also attached to the bookmarks are two miniature heart-shaped seed papers, one to plant in the library garden and one to take home to enjoy.     Ebsco eBooks

    In support of faculty summer reading, the library has purchased, in eBook form, both Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking (Cain) and The App Generation : How Today’s Youth Navigate Identity, Intimacy, and Imagination in a Digital World (Gardner, Davis), from library eBook vendor, Ebsco.   To note: Quiet has a one-eBook-one-user license, meaning it operates in the same way a print title operates: first to check it out will have it until it is returned.     eBook Collection Highlight: Study Guides & College Admissions

    Read Ohrstrom’s eBook collections while away for the summer!  Simply visit vpn.sps.edu & log in using your SPS user name and password. Next, click on the library link and search the library catalog. To retrieve only eBooks, use the advanced search feature to limit by item type ‘eBook.’ Preparing for college admission?  Consider a subject search for “Universities and Colleges, Admission.” Studying for entrance exams?  Consider a subject search for “SAT, Study Guides.” All of Ohrstrom’s eBooks can be read on a personal computer.  No special e-reader is required.  Happy e-reading!
