Chronicle of Higher Education: Site License

By - Research & Instruction Librarian September 27th, 2012

The Library is very happy to share its recent purchase of a site license to The Chronicle of Higher Education.

What does this mean?

  • Anybody using the campus computer network can view articles at http://chronicle.com.
  • Anybody using the campus computer network can create an account at http://chronicle.com.  To create an account, ones SPS email address is needed.

Why would I create an account?

  • Creating an account allows the account holder to sign in and access http://chronicle.com from any computer network, beyond SPS.
  • Creating an account allows the account holder to download the Chronicle iPad app.

Tips:

  • There is a gold key next to certain articles at http://chronicle.com.  The library subscription allows access to all ‘gold key’ content.
  • Articles from the weekly print edition are posted every Monday morning.
  • A variety of free email newsletters are available from the Chronicle.  Sign up for as many as you like.

Please feel free to contact Lura Sanborn (lsanborn at sps dot edu) with your question(s) about the library’s Chronicle of Higher Education site license.

See you in September. Happy Trails!

Dear Students,

Best wishes for a warm and relaxing summer.  Good luck in all travels and endeavors.

While away from campus for the summer, all of the library’s digital collections, including eBooks, are available to you.

Simply visit vpn.sps.edu to access the library while off the grounds.  Or as one student recently put it, place “the library in your lap.”

We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer!

Sincerely,

Ohrstrom Library

The Library in Your Lap

This phrase, coined by current senior, RG ’12, is such a great way of expressing the always available digital content purchased/subscribed to by Ohrstrom library.

When you are off the SPS grounds, such as during the upcoming Winter Break, simply visit vpn.sps.edu and log in with your SPS credentials.  All of the library’s digital holdings will now become available, including:

Analog hungry?  Stop by the library before the break to pick up a physical book(s).  We will be happy to provide an extended due date.
